Undergrowth
Undergrowth is an urban farming project, in an abandoned railway station underneath Glasgow Botanic Gardens, aimed at tackling food insecurity through innovative growing methods. The project is centred around growth – the growth of produce but also of community. The space will harvest a range of crops throughout the year by harnessing the power of bioluminescent plants to generate photosynthesis for other plants. Undergrowth will have four interconnected elements: growing spaces, public engagement, skills development, and events. Aiming at redefining the concept of public spaces, offering somewhere both functional and educational, where people can gather, learn, and connect with their surroundings.
