‘Renascence’ is a series of portraits depicting various women from Greek mythology. The aim of the project is to reinterpret and highlight certain portrayals of these women that I believe should be challenged. I depict Circe, Aphrodite, Pandora, Galatea, and Daphne. They have historically been written and depicted in art, particularly renaissance art, primarily by men. I want to add a woman’s voice to explore the aspects of womanhood which is crucial in the interpretation of these female characters.
