Caledonia
The Caledonian Forest, a unique ecosystem of Scots pine, Juniper, Rowan and other hardy tree species, once colonised more than three and a half million acres of the Scottish landscape. Today, with an increasing demand for timber production, man has taken control of the land, and what we are left with is a devastated landscape. The Caledonian Forest has shrunk to less than five percent of its original one and a half million hectares, and with Sheep and Deer grazing any newly germinated seedlings, there is very little opportunity for the ecosystem to naturally heal itself.
